We’re certainly no strangers to brands joining forces with the movie industry to sell us products. Still, this Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness commercial for Tide is rather fun. You may recall that David Harbour posted a short clip for a Tide ad last week which was interrupted by someone opening a portal to steal his Tide Pods. The entire commercial has now been released, and we finally know the real culprit. No, it’s not Doctor Strange, but rather Wong, who inadvertently spills some of his tuna melt sandwich on the Cloak of Levitation. Check out the DoctorStrange Tide commercial below!
“The MCU has a way of making superheroes relatable through humor and insight, just like the best Tide work. So when it came to collaborating with Marvel, we were speaking the same language. How do we make this magical story extremely relatable to anyone, and then add a layer of easter eggs,” said Daniel Lobatón, Chief Creative Officer and Co-President, Saatchi & Saatchi New York. “We love telling the story of what happened when Wong finally ate the tuna melt sandwich he hinted at in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War. The dynamic between Wong and the Cloak of Levitation is extremely fun. They’ve been through so many adventures, yet we see them in this very relatable moment of ‘get in the shower we need to clean you before your parents get home.’”
The upcoming film will find the MCU unlocking the Multiverse and pushing its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.
